Grey Matter Learning launch a Multiple Sclerosis course in partnership with the MS Society

by Lisa Carr

Leading Social Care Training organisation, Grey Matter Learning (GML), has launched a partnership with the MS Society to create a learning resource that will help raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Each year around 7,000 people are diagnosed with MS in the UK, and more than 130,000 people in the UK currently live with MS. The free course explores the different types of MS, the signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and available treatments.

The course content was developed by subject-matter experts at the MS Society. Grey Matter Learning’s curriculum team then used the content to create an engaging and dynamic online learning resource. The course was shared with people living with MS and specialists, who shared some positive feedback.

One of the comments said: “People with MS felt that it was engaging and dynamic and contained a lot of really useful information.”

Another commented on how much they liked the interactivity and tone of the course.

The course was designed specifically for people who want to learn more about MS. Undoubtedly, it will be hugely beneficial for those working in the social care sector, but GML’s Managing Director, Phil Hitchcox, wants to encourage a wider audience to complete the course.

He said: “Whilst this course will provide a focus for those working in social care, I would urge others interested in learning more about MS to take the course.

“By developing a deeper understanding of MS and all it encompasses, as a society, we can be more mindful of the individuals who are living with MS.

“I hope this course will go a long way in supporting those who work in the sector, those living with MS, and their families.”

The course comprises eight elements, each aiming to provide learners with a greater awareness of MS. Learners will explore the key signs and symptoms of MS, diagnosis and treatment therapies, wellbeing tips, common challenges and barriers, and even explores some advanced and complex cases.

In just 30 minutes, learners can gain vital knowledge that could help them in their work practices or everyday life.

Since its inception in 2006, GML has become one of the most reputable social care training providers. Their mission is to ‘Improve Lives Through Learning’ and this latest partnership suggests they are making huge strides to achieve this.
