Elliscombe House an ‘A’ for energy efficiency

With the price of energy bills rising steeply in the UK, one nursing home in Somerset is hoping that its investment in energy efficient heating systems will pay dividends this winter – and it has already been recognised with an ‘A’ rating in its Energy Performance Certificate assessment.

Elliscombe House in Higher Holton near Wincanton had been rated as ‘D’ in an EPC report in 2016, prior to it being purchased by its current owners Glenn and Catherine Trotman. They installed state-of-the-art infrared heating panels and solar assisted heat pumps as part of their redevelopment of the home, and when the same assessor returned he gave the much-improved rating. His assessment of Elliscombe House is even more significant given that he has never given an ‘A’ rating to a care home before and has only given 1 ‘A’ to any property he has visited in the past 15 years.

Owner and Managing Director Glenn Trotman explains, “When we were planning the redevelopment of Elliscombe House, energy efficiency was an equal priority to style and décor. We are delighted that our investment in energy efficient technology have been recognised with our ‘A’ rating.”

Elliscombe House provides residential and nursing care for 35 residents in Higher Holton, near Wincanton. For more information about living or working at Elliscombe House, telephone 01963 32746 or email info@elliscombehouse.com
