Five years ago, a small team of people set out to make a difference in the lives of autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Their vision was simple: to become a lifeline for families who were in desperate need of experienced care and support, having run out of options. They have done this through creating teams of experienced clinicians, who have the ability to wrap care around people at risk of hospital admission due to mental health crises.
On Monday 5th June, a team of over 150 people came together at their Catalyst Care Group Aztec West home, and raised a glass to their people and the individuals they support, recognising a hard, yet fulfilling journey so far. The event was attended by clients too, who had the opportunity to spend time with the office-based team, building stronger relationships and giving feedback on what the next 5 years could look like.
Leaf Complex Care provides bespoke support for people, utilising a Positive Behaviour Support ethos. This means that people are truly put at the centre of their care, and enabled to live fulfilled lives in their own homes and communities. Teams of nurses and support workers form a network around people, and provide healthcare and support to build social networks.
Tracey Prewett, Family Relationship Manager, has been there since the inception of Leaf Complex Care, and said “I can remember when Leaf Complex Care was just an idea. Now we have 5 branches around the UK, and we are supporting more people than we ever imagined we could. We are grateful for the committed work of our passionate clinicians, who are the backbone of our organisation.”
The Catalyst Care Group family were buoyed by a visit from their Founder and Group CEO, Trevor Mapondera, who gave a speech recognising the dedication and belief of the Leaf Complex Care teams. He said, “Everything starts with people. We have learnt a huge amount in the last 5 years about human rights, and our belief is that people should never have to receive care hundreds of miles from their homes and families, just because they have a learning disability.”
Leaf Complex Care works with Integrated Commissioning Boards and Local Authorities across the UK to design and implement bespoke packages of care for people with complex needs. They form part of Catalyst Care Group, and are always on the look out for passionate people, who are committed to providing high quality care, to join their journey.
