Exemplar Health Care, one of the country’s leading nursing care providers for adults living with complex and high acuity needs, has marked the official opening of Adswood Lodge, its brand new £6m care home in Stockport.
Cutting the ribbon was the Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Graham Greenhalgh, who expressed his gratitude to the home’s staff team for their dedication to residents and remarked on the state-of-the-art therapy equipment residents will benefit from.
Adswood Lodge, located in Cale Green in Stockport, supports adults living with neuro-disabilities including Huntington’s disease and including brain injuries and strokes, physical disabilities, spinal injuries, and complex mental health needs. It is Exemplar Health Care’s fourth care home in Greater Manchester.
The home has 30 large bedrooms, each with an ensuite wet room, split into three 10-bed communities. With this small group living model, Exemplar Health Care has found it can provide a far more supportive environment that is more responsive to people’s needs. Each community has a dining room, lounge, quiet lounge, and a sensory bathroom. In addition, there is an activities hub, sensory room, hair salon, visitors suite, multi-faith room and a large accessible garden.
The new home created 100 new healthcare jobs in the local area and will feature a multi-disciplinary healthcare team unlike many other care homes. The home has already recruited a mix of care, nursing, and therapeutic practitioners, including Healthcare Assistants, Registered Nurses, and a Physiotherapist.
Through this multi-disciplinary team, people living at Adswood Lodge can access the full range of clinical and holistic care they need. The new staff team also prides itself on empowering residents to maximise their independence in a way that works for them, based on their healthcare needs, providing the support they need to live fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
For those looking to advance their careers or take up a new challenge, a few roles are still available, with recruitment ongoing for a Registered Nurse and an Activities Coordinator. More information can be found at the Exemplar Health Careers website: https://www.exemplarhc.com/careers.

Helen Lawson, Commissioning Manager at Exemplar Health Care, said:
“We have left no stone unturned in designing every aspect of Adswood Lodge to cater to the specific needs of residents, even calling on the help of our Service User Council, comprised of resident representatives from our other homes, who made sure the home would meet the needs of people who will now live here.
“This ethos runs throughout Exemplar Health Care’s approach to providing care, as we work in partnership with our residents to make sure every day is better and they can lead fulfilling lives.
“We are confident Adswood Lodge will make a positive difference to the lives of many people in the local area, supporting adults with complex care needs to remain close to their loved ones whilst receiving exceptional support from a range of health and care professionals.”

“I had the privilege of touring the new Adswood Lodge Nursing Home in Stockport, which is an impressive home operated by Exemplar Health Care. It offers a wide array of facilities from bespoke private rooms to communal lounges for the residents. I was particularly impressed with the health facilities such as spa baths, treatment rooms and a dedicated clinic. The staff were a wonderfully caring group who offer a full-service 24-hour support. This is a shining example of the care services now available in Stockport.”
