ADASS APPOINTS NEW JOINT CHIEF EXECUTIVE

by Kirsty Kirsty

Today ADASS (the Association for Directors of Adult Social Services) announces that Anna Hemmings has been appointed as its new Joint Chief Executive alongside Cathie Williams and will be taking up the post early in the New Year.

Anna joins the charity at a critical time for the organisation, as it works to build a movement among partners to transform social care. She joins ADASS from GamCare, where she was CEO for five years. Anna takes over the new role from outgoing joint CEO Sheila Norris, who will continue to work with ADASS on bespoke projects until May.

Announcing the appointment, existing joint CEO Cathie Williams said: “Anna really impressed us with her leadership qualities and the great experience she will bring to ADASS.  I’m very much looking forward to working with her to develop our role as one of the leading voices for social care.

She added: I also want to offer my enormous thanks to Sheila, who has been wonderful to work with.  It takes a lot of commitment to make a job share work, but the rewards of having someone to bounce ideas off and chew over solutions to challenges with, are significant.

Commenting on her new role, Anna Hemmings said: “Having worked with people who draw on social care throughout my career, I’m delighted to be joining ADASS as joint CEO at this important time. I’m conscious both of the ever growing capacity requirements in social care, as well as the pressure on local authority funding and challenges around workforce. These mean that finding workable long-term ways to meet need has never been more important. “I’m looking forward to working with the team to support ADASS in delivering it’s key priorities over the coming year, which will be a critical period for the future of social care.”
