Famileo, the cherished family newspaper that bridges the gap between generations, has
partnered with intergenerational charity InCommon for Global Intergenerational Week. This
collaboration seeks to highlight the positive impact that younger and older people can have on
each other. It also seeks to encourage people to spend more time with people of generations
different to their own.
InCommon is a London-based charity whose mission is to bring generations together and build
more inclusive, connected, age-friendly communities for all. Their ‘Connect’ programme
connects primary age children with their older neighbours living in retirement homes that are
within a 15-minute walk away. By jointly participating in workshops and creative projects, the
Connect programme helps build a bridge between generations and forges a sense of
community.
Famileo’s mission is also to bring generations closer together by overcoming the digital divide
that often exists between older generations and their younger tech-savvy relatives. Famileo
automatically formats uploaded family photos and messages into a printed newspaper that’s
delivered monthly to the older family member. By facilitating communication and sharing
cherished moments, Famileo helps families maintain, strengthen, and protect their
intergenerational relationships.
Global Intergenerational Week (from 24th to 30th April, 2024) is an annual worldwide campaign
which seeks to motivate everyone to embrace intergenerational practice and relationships. The
week aims to show the amazing outcomes that are achieved, when people of all ages come
together to form vital and lasting connections.
During Global Intergenerational Week, Famileo is proud to support InCommon’s mission by
donating £1 for every new subscriber to their cause as well as launching a promotional code
GENERATIONS that will offer new subscribers the first 2 months of their subscription free.
Tanguy de Gélis, Co-Founder of Famileo said: “We are excited to announce this partnership
with InCommon, as we share a common vision of fostering meaningful intergenerational
connections which are vital for nurturing understanding and solidarity across generations. By
embracing the preferred communications of each generation, we can build connections that
transcend age. The more easily we can keep in touch, the more we share and the deeper the
connection.
Hannah Kayi Mason, InCommon’s CEO said: “We are excited to partner with Famileo, an
organisation that shares our mission of connecting generations in delightful ways. In an
increasingly age-segregated society, it’s more important than ever to provide spaces for people
of different generations to learn from each other and see what they have in common. These
intergenerational friendships aren’t just nice – they’re essential in helping us all feel more
connected to our communities, something that’s important in Global Intergenerational Week and
beyond.”
Join Famileo in supporting Intergenerational Awareness Week 2024, as they aim to bring
