Flint Bishop is pleased to announce that it has advised MPS Care Group on the sale of the 80 bed Northfield Care Centre in Thorne, Doncaster, to Wood Care Group, an established operator of care homes in Greater Manchester and Yorkshire.

MPS, which operates care homes across the UK, has a long-standing relationship with Flint Bishop, having worked with the firm on numerous corporate finance transactions over several years, including a group reorganisation, partial MBO and the refinancing of existing debt.

The legal process for MPS was handled by Martyn Brierley, Mandy Chan and Janet Rhodes of Flint Bishop.

Paul Gray, CEO of MPS, said:

“I would like to thank all those involved in assisting the company with the sale to Wood Care, including Martyn Brierley and Janet Rhodes from Flint Bishop, Nick Grieves from NGA Care, and James Delve from PKF Smith Cooper. The transaction was completed in a timely and thoroughly professional manner. After many years of being cared for by the MPS family, the home has now passed into another caring family. All of us at MPS wish the residents, staff, and the management team the very best for their future.”

Martyn Brierley, Partner & Head of Corporate & Finance at Flint Bishop, commented on another successful transaction for MPS:

“We’re delighted to have advised MPS on this important transaction, having represented MPS for many years on various strategic acquisitions and disposals. This is a sector we are passionate about, given its importance in supporting those in need of excellent care, such as the residents of Northfield. We wish Wood Care Limited, its residents, and staff at the home a bright and prosperous future.”

Nick Greaves, Managing Director of NGA Care, added:

“The transaction has been undertaken in great spirits, and the professionalism shown by both the sellers’ and buyers’ advisors has been top-notch. We generated a high level of interest in this business, which is yet another example of the strong appetite we are seeing for operational homes nationwide.”
