Susan Rolfe, Operations Director, Think Tank Academy

On Professional Care Worker’s week 2020, Think Tank Academy are proud to launch as the UK’s first Qualifications and Accredited Training provider in Health and Social Care.

Our goal is in creating a platform for providers to Train, Connect and Empower their workforce.

At Think Tank, we recognise that for most of us; caring is a vocation, a privilege and something to be incredibly proud of. However, we also understand that all too often, children and vulnerable people have become victims of practice and procedural errors and this was one of our key motivators in Think Tank’s development. We recognise that accessing emotive, current, good quality and creative training can be a challenge and that it can be difficult to identify and establish bespoke CPD opportunities, although a career pathway can be fairly easily mapped out in Health & Social Care and our challenge was identified in creating a workforce, sector and experience that we could be proud of.

Our team at Think Tank are the key to our success, we pride ourselves on the efforts that we apply in attracting sector experts to enhance the experience, learning and empowerment of health and social care workers. As our team themselves have grown organically through Social Services, Education and Health sectors, there is a shared passion with providers in understanding their needs, their strengths, challenges and threats so that we create access opportunities where together, we raise the bar.

Our accredited training is available in both Online and Virtual Classroom based sessions and we have created current, thought provoking and reflective training courses to provide an innovative and exciting solution to providers and to learners. Our Level 2 – 5 Diplomas, Awards and Certificates present blended learning with practical competency to offer a unique learning experience. We create bespoke packages to enable providers to get their staff inducted, trained and qualified. We complete an initial training needs analysis to structure the individual learning needs and this gives the providers full oversight on the needs and the impact from implementation.

Think Tank are approved by a number of accreditation and awarding bodies including Highfield Qualifications and Open Awards to give providers and regulators confidence in the product that they are purchasing.  We work with a number of Public and Third Sector partners to help Connect and Empower Health and Social Care professionals and the children and vulnerable adults that they care for and support, through the introduction of a Programme delivery Schedule of National and International days of Celebration.

This National Programme is set 12 months in advance and will see Think Tank Academy offer monthly free courses, resources, support charity and community work and give back to the sector. We will provide access to Webinars and Conferences, bring in keynote speakers and aim to bring people together after many months staying apart.

Our introductory offer is in recognition of International Older Person’s Day which will provide an accredited Dementia Awareness virtual classroom and is open to all Social Care staff to support knowledge development for learners and enhance life experience for older people living in social and health care provisions.

We are also running a national campaign to identify Adult health and social care provisions who have gone above the call of duty in supporting older people who were shielding from the Covid -19 virus, we will donate a Radio Reminisce subscription and Amazon Alexa to 3 lucky nursing, health and social care providers.
