Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Larchwood Grove care home in Gravesend, Kent.

Larchwood Grove is a well-respected care home registered with the CQC to care for up to 10 service users in the categories of Learning Disability and Physical Disability. The business occupies an extended 1930s building with 10 single bedrooms, nine of which have en suite facilities. It is located in a predominantly residential area south of Gravesend town centre in Kent, close to a range of shops, banks, and restaurants.

Previously owned by Janet Aldridge, who acquired the home 26 years ago, it was brought to market to allow her to pursue a well-earned retirement. Following a confidential sales process, the home has been sold to Mr Paul Chawla-Lidbury, who also owns a care home close by in Bexleyheath.

Janet Aldridge comments, “Having operated Larchwood Grove since 1996, I have worked hard to establish Larchwood Grove as a ‘Good’ rated home for Learning Disability clients which I have run as a family business. I have now taken the decision to retire and am delighted to have now sold the business through John Harrison at Christie & Co in order to achieve this aim.”

Mr Paul Chawla-Lidbury comments, “I am delighted to have added to my existing care home in Bexleyheath, Kent, with the acquisition of Larchwood Grove which is also a service rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and specialises in the Learning Disability sector, so is therefore a great fit for us.”

John Harrison, Director – Healthcare at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “Having advised Janet on the best approach to use to achieve a sale and retire, I am pleased that we have now been able to complete on the sale of Larchwood Grove in Gravesend, following the sale of her other care home, Copperfields in Higham, which I recently handled. I wish Janet all the best for her well-earned retirement.

“Both care homes were sold confidentially and attracted a great level of interest. They demonstrate the strong demand we are seeing for care homes in the South East from our national database of buyers.”

Larwood Grove was sold for an undisclosed price.
