Leading care sector consultants, Fulcrum Care, are joining The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) as a bronze sponsor, helping to support current and former care workers with financial grants, mental health support and providing access to vital services during economic hardships.
As a sponsor, Fulcrum Care will help to raise awareness and widen the CWC’s reach, to ensure more care workers are receiving the essential support they need. The Care Worker’s Charity, which operates nationally, supports people working in the social care sector.
Founded in 2019 to provide crisis grants to care workers and their families during the hardships of the pandemic, the CWC is very much aligned with Fulcrum’s own values. Fulcrum Care was instrumental in developing ground-breaking Infection Prevention Control (IPC) policies and protecting care homes from imminent closure during the lockdown period, which contributed to Fulcrum’s growth and establishment as respected experts in social care.
Tony Thiru, CEO of Fulcrum Care, said: “We’re proud to pledge our support to The Care Workers’ Charity and join their mission, vision and values for care workers across the UK.
“As care sector consultants, we are in constant contact with the care workers and care home managers who are on the frontline of the challenges faced by social care. Becoming a sponsor of the initiative is just one of the ways that we hope to continue helping those in need within the sector and create a better environment for our key workers,” he added.
Since 2020, The Care Workers’ Charity has supported over 6,166 care workers across the UK with a total of £3.86 million in Crisis, Covid-19, Funeral and Mental Wellbeing and Health Grants. During wider discussions over the lack of support that social care is receiving, the initiative seeks to improve sector resilience and help vulnerable care workers feel valued and supported when they need it most.
Karolina Gerlich, CEO of The Care Workers’ Charity said: “We are very grateful that Fulcrum has decided to support our initiative. Working in social care is a rewarding role, however it comes with its challenges. The CWC is a safety net for care workers and their families who are struggling and might not have the means to support themselves.
“The grants we provide can make the difference for a family to heat their house over winter or repair their car to ensure they can get to work — our support eases the stress for care workers and helps them to keep caring,” she added.
