This Month we Meet: Samit Biswas

by Kirsty Kirsty

Each month we meet key stakeholders and business leaders in the social care sector. This month we meet Samit Biswa, Chief Executive and Founder of Care Safe, a specialist service providing accessible transport for disabled people, personalised care support and clinical testing delivered safely in the comfort of home.

What inspired Care Safe, and how has the mission evolved?

Care Safe was founded on a simple belief: healthcare should reach people where they are. The original mission focused on improving access by delivering reliable, doorstep services. Over time, that vision has expanded. Today, Care Safe integrates patient transport, home clinical care and remote monitoring into a coordinated model designed around dignity, safety and measurable outcomes. The mission has evolved from filling service gaps to building scalable, technology-enabled solutions that respond to the complex needs of vulnerable populations.

Care Safe offers services from transport to home clinical care. How do you prioritise innovation?

Innovation must be purposeful. We prioritise by listening closely to clients and analysing operational data alongside wider sector trends. Where are pressures building? Where are outcomes falling short? By identifying real-world friction points, we focus development on improvements that will have tangible impact. This approach ensures we evolve in step with both client expectations and the future direction of health and social care.

Your drivers and carers are central to the experience. How do you recruit and retain the right people?

Our drivers and carers are the face of Care Safe. Recruitment goes beyond qualifications — we look for empathy, professionalism and shared values. Thorough checks and values-based interviews ensure alignment from the outset.

Training is equally important. Every team member completes structured programmes that combine technical competence with emotional intelligence. We also offer CPD-approved online and face-to-face training for internal staff and external candidates, contributing to broader workforce development. Retention comes from creating an environment where people feel supported, recognised and able to grow.

With the UK’s ageing population, how does Care Safe contribute to public health goals?

The ageing population demands preventative, community-based solutions. By enabling timely home care and reliable mobility services, we help reduce avoidable hospital admissions and support independence. Our telehealth and remote monitoring services allow for earlier intervention and improved continuity, easing pressure on acute settings while enhancing quality of life.

How do you build trust with hesitant or first-time customers?

Trust is foundational. Many clients approach external care cautiously. We prioritise transparency, clear communication and consistency. From introductory conversations to reliable service delivery, we focus on building confidence step by step. When people understand what to expect — and see that expectations are met — trust follows.

How do you balance personalised care with operational efficiency?

Efficiency should strengthen care, not dilute it. Our patented Digital Safeguarding system streamlines coordination and oversight, allowing teams to respond quickly while maintaining visibility and safety. Technology handles complexity behind the scenes, freeing carers to focus on meaningful interaction. For us, scalability is about protecting quality as we grow.

Where do you see Care Safe in the next five to ten years?

Demand for non-emergency care and mobility services will continue to rise. We plan to expand across the UK and into North America, strengthening technological capability while preserving the personalised approach that defines us. Strategic partnerships and continued advocacy for preventative care will support this growth.

Care Safe’s evolution reflects a wider shift in health and social care: sustainable progress depends on aligning people, systems and purpose. By combining innovation, workforce investment and client-centred design, we aim to build care models that are both compassionate and resilient.
