One of Scotland’s largest independent care home operators is expanding following a £41 million backing from HSBC UK.

Inverness-based, Meallmore Limited will use the funding to purchase two new sites for future developments. The financial backing is also contributing to the refurbishment of some of its existing homes, and will help to complete the
construction of its new homes in Dumbarton and Aberdeen.

Over the next two years, the family-run business plans to open care homes in Ayr, Falkirk and Dumbarton, with construction in Aberdeen due to start mid-2021.

Mary Preston, Operations Director at Meallmore Limited, said: “The care home sector has had a challenging year, and reflecting on the past few months has only solidified our belief that more investment is needed to make sure that care homes
are delivering for the needs of residents.

“We work hard to deliver care that is individually tailored to residents’ needs, while allowing them to be as independent as they wish – and thanks to this backing from HSBC UK, we’re able to build upon and improve our offering.”

Neal Tully, Relationship Director at HSBC UK said: “Meallmore delivers an important service to so many across the country and we’re proud to be able to help them with their plans to offer residents high quality care.”

Meallmore Limited operates 25 care homes across all regions of Scotland. The company specialises in dementia care, nursing care, specialist adult care and respite and short stay care.
