Ashberry Healthcare Acquires Gloucestershire Care Home

by Kirsty Kirsty

Ashberry Healthcare, a leading boutique care provider committed to delivering high-quality and affordable care, has

announced the acquisition of Brockworth House Nursing Home in Gloucestershire from Methodist Homes (MHA), the UK’s largest charity care provider for older people.

This acquisition expands Ashberry Healthcare’s portfolio to nine care homes across Surrey, Herefordshire, Cheshire, and Carmarthenshire. The group specialises in residential, nursing, and specialist dementia care services.

Situated in its own landscaped grounds just five miles from Cheltenham, Brockworth House Nursing Home offers residential and nursing care for up to 52 residents. The care team at the home will transfer to Ashberry Healthcare under TUPE arrangements, ensuring continuity of care and support for residents and their families.

With a vibrant activities programme and extensive gardens, Ashberry Healthcare, who hold an impressive 9.6 out of 10 rating on the independent comparison website carehome.co.uk, plans to build on Brockworth House’s positive reputation to secure a bright future for its community.

Brockworth House will be Ashberry Healthcare’s third acquisition since its management buyout in 2020, led by Chief Executive Nigel Denny and Chief Finance Officer Gary Cottrell.

Having restructured its original portfolio, Ashberry Healthcare is now pursuing new opportunities, with a focus on acquiring period properties and country houses of around 45 bedrooms. This model supports smaller community living with personalised care tailored to residents’ needs.

Ashberry Healthcare prides itself on creating safe, caring environments that balance independence and enjoyment supported by professional excellence. Its community-centric model fosters a strong sense of belonging, rooted in the core values of loyalty, integrity, and compassion. With homes intentionally designed on a smaller scale, team members are empowered with the time and resources to deliver highly personalised care that supports residents’ physical and mental wellbeing.

Commenting on the acquisition, Ashberry Healthcare CEO Nigel Denny said:

“Today marks an exciting step forward as we welcome Brockworth House into the Ashberry family. The home and its team have an excellent reputation, founded on strong relationships with residents, families, and the local community.

“Our vision is to build on this reputation through our community centred care model, offering something distinct for those seeking fellowship, empowerment, and independence in later life.

“Over the coming weeks we look forward to meeting everyone connected with Brockworth House, and we are confident this acquisition will further strengthen Ashberry Healthcare’s position as a respected care provider and employer. I would also like to thank our financing partner, Barclays Bank, for their continued support of our development plans.”

MHA Chief Executive Sam Monaghan added: “We are delighted that Brockworth House will pass into the hands of Ashberry Healthcare, where we know both residents and staff will be well supported for the future.”
