The UK’s first live, continually updated care home rating system has been named a triple finalist in the prestigious National Technology Awards 2026.

OpenScore, developed by the care directory Autumna, has been shortlisted for ‘Innovation of the Year’, ‘Data-driven Product of the Year’, and the ‘Tech for Good’ award. The nominations recognise the platform’s role in revolutionising how care quality is assessed by replacing outdated reports with real-time operational data.

Launched in 2025, OpenScore addresses a critical ‘information vacuum’ in the UK care sector. Current data reveals a significant backlog in official regulator inspections, with the average age of a rating in some areas reaching over five years. This data drought often forces families to make life-changing decisions based on obsolete history rather than the current reality of a home.

By connecting directly to existing care management software, OpenScore aggregates over 65 real-time indicators – including food hygiene, safety checks and live resident feedback – into a single, accessible quality score.

The recognition from the National Technology Awards comes shortly after OpenScore announced a major partnership with the Care Consultant Accreditation Framework (C-CAF). This collaboration allows providers to instantly convert validated third-party mock inspections into their live quality score, helping homes prove their standards even when official inspections are delayed.

Debbie Harris, Founder of OpenScore and Autumna, said: “Being shortlisted for three national awards is a powerful validation of our mission to bring transparency to the care sector. For too long, both families and providers have been tied to outdated ratings that don’t reflect the ‘truth of today’.

“OpenScore was created to remove the element of luck from finding care. Whether it is through our algorithmic tracking of daily safety checks or our recent integration with C-CAF’s independent consultants, we are ensuring that great care is no longer a secret. We are moving the sector away from static history and towards a living, breathing picture of quality.”

The National Technology Awards celebrate the pioneers of new technology and are among the most comprehensive awards programmes in the UK tech sector. The winners of the 2026 awards are scheduled to be announced at a gala ceremony on 14th May 2026 at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.
