Nottinghamshire care group enrols ‘Rising Stars’ team on Leadership and Management programme

A Nottinghamshire care group has enrolled its team of ‘Rising Stars’ on a four-week Leadership and Management programme to build on their confidence and knowledge in delivering outstanding care.

Church Farm Care, which operates five care homes across Nottinghamshire, recently put forward 13 of its staff members – nominated by their managers for displaying natural leadership skills in their respective homes – on the course, which is being delivered by Nottingham-based Tempest Management Training.

The course covers managing self, understanding leadership, delivering effective supervision and managing conflict. The skills gained from the programme will be used to enhance the quality of care provided at Wren Hall in Selston, Church Farm Nursing Home in Cotgrave, Rusticus in Cotgrave, Skylarks in West Bridgford, and Field House in Radcliffe on Trent.

The most recent course on managing conflict provided significant insights to those in attendance. Athulya Sunny, from Field House, said: “I now recognise that instead of trying to win an argument, I must first see the facts and concentrate on how to resolve things. Don’t take anything personally and fight the problem, not the person.”

Jyoti Dhull, from Rusticus, added: “I learned that by having the right approach and using effective communication, you can resolve conflict and come up with a positive change.”

Lucy Atkinson, Director at Church Farm Care, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our Rising Stars and their dedication to continuous personal and professional development. This leadership programme has already given our team invaluable tools to handle challenging situations with empathy, focus on constructive solutions, and understand their own unique strengths. Seeing our staff grow in confidence and look at leadership from fresh perspectives is exactly why we invest heavily in their training, as it directly enriches the wonderful, person-centred care our family members receive every day.”

Church Farm Care offers specialist dementia care, palliative care, bariatric care and complex care needs, as well as 24-hour nursing care, rehabilitation and respite care across its five Nottinghamshire communities.
