Hartford Care celebrates commitment to real living wage

Hartford Care has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer. Their Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Hartford Care’s 16 care and nursing homes across the south of England receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.90 in the UK. The rate is significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £9.50 per hour.

Hartford Care is part of a family-owned business, established more than a century ago in 1908, that runs 16 individual care and nursing homes located throughout the south of England in Bristol, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire.

The company is governed by its core principles of care, comfort and companionship in an environment that is safe and happy for all.

All Hartford Care’s care and nursing homes have their own dedicated manager and team of carers. With the support of the management team based at the Company’s head office in Basingstoke, Hampshire, each manager is free to concentrate on the important role of providing painstaking attention to detail to maintain the highest possible level of care, and importantly, spend quality time with residents and their families.

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 300,000 people and put over £1.6 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.
