Welcome to Kirsty Meets!

Each month I meet key stakeholders and business leaders in the social care sector. This month I met Michael Statham, Chief Digital Officer, My Learning Cloud. I caught up with Michael to discuss continuous professional development, My Learning Cloud’s learning management system, and the importance of upskilling the social care workforce.

So, Michael, the use of technology in social care has clearly improved patient outcomes over the years, but how can technology assist in workforce development?

That’s a very good question! Technology can play a crucial role in workforce development for the health and social care sector. Firstly, it can provide online training programmes, scenario-based training and other digital learning tools that enable care staff to learn and develop skills at their own pace and convenience. Secondly, technology can support communication and collaboration among health and social care professionals, which is essential for effective teamworking and coordinating care. Technology, such as a Learning Management system (LMS), can automate administrative tasks such as scheduling, record-keeping, compliance tracking and Learning and Development, freeing up more time for frontline staff to focus on their practice and providing high quality care. Overall, technology can improve the quality, efficiency and accessibility of health and social care services while enhancing the skills and job satisfaction of healthcare professionals.

“My Learning Cloud are one of the top providers of Learning Management Systems within health and social care.”

How do My Learning Cloud approach this specifically? What sets My Learning Cloud apart from other learning management systems?

Our fully bespoke LMS is developed in-house and by our own team of developers. We have no third-party stake holders or investors, so we are able to fully support our customers with a truly bespoke LMS that suits the needs of their organisation. We also have our own internal courseware team so all of our courses are also developed and built in-house. All of our courses go through the CPD certification process before they are released to our customers.

Our Lumis Pro LMS is fully configurable and customisable to make it suit your organisation’s learning and development requirements. This includes everything from the look, feel and tone, to the variety of available learning activities and topic components. We offer a blended learning approach, not just e-Learning. With our powerful notification and reporting system, our LMS truly transforms the way a care organisation manages their learning and development.

We are also a subsidiary of a care and support charity. We are therefore acutely aware of how best to improve learners’ day-to-day practice through learning to ultimately meet CQC’s training compliance requirements. We have a wealth of subject matter experts within the wider Group to draw on as and when required.  We also understand what learning matters to central services staff, volunteers and Board members.

Social care is a sector that is constantly changing and shifting in response to guidance, regulation and breakthroughs. How do you ensure your LMS evolves in line with this?

My Learning Cloud are one of the top providers of Learning Management Systems within health and social care. We stay up to date with the latest legislation by continually monitoring changes in sector regulations and guidelines, attending relevant industry events, and engaging with industry experts. We also work closely with our customers to identify any potential compliance issues and update our LMS and e-Learning courses accordingly.
