Achieve together announces major investment in people: Uplift in pay and progress in gender equity

by Kirsty Kirsty

Achieve together, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist support for people with learning disabilities and autistic people, has announced a major investment in its workforce. From April 2025, the organisation will introduce a new base hourly rate of £12.30 for Support Workers in England – exceeding the National Living Wage.

This increase, introduced as part of the organisation’s Career Adventures Framework, allows employees to progress their careers and earnings through structured learning and skills development.

Alongside this uplift for frontline roles, Achieve together has also committed more than £1 million in enhancing manager pay bands, strengthening leadership capacity and ensuring that those in management roles are recognised and rewarded appropriately.

The organisation is also celebrating continued progress on gender equity. The results of its latest Gender Pay Gap report, taken as of April 2024, show a mean gender pay gap of just 0.8%, down from 1.4% in 2023 and 2.1% in 2022 – outperforming both the UK average and sector benchmarks.

“At Achieve together, we are committed to ensuring our teams are supported with clear career pathways and financial stability,” said Zak Houlahan, Chief Executive Officer. “These changes reflect our commitment to reward, recognise and support every person working with us – from frontline roles to management. And our progress in closing the gender pay gap shows we are not just investing financially but building an inclusive culture too.”

The uplift applies to support workers across England, while in Wales, Achieve together continues to pay the Real Living Wage, which is supported by government funding.

The total rewards package offered includes career pathways, apprenticeships, Wagestream access, financial wellbeing tools, and retail and wellbeing perks. The changes are part of Achieve together’s wider People Plan, focused on retention, empowerment, and building inclusive pathways to leadership.

This investment underscores Achieve together’s belief that putting people first is key to delivering exceptional care and support.
