Person Centred Software appoints Andrew Coles as CEO

The UK’s leading digital care planning provider has announced the appointment of a CEO to increase the capability of the senior management team and free up more time for strategic growth.

Person Centred Software, providers of the UK’s most widely used digital care and electronic medication systems, has announced the appointment of Andrew Coles as company CEO, with founder Jonathan Papworth continuing his role as a majority shareholder – enabling a greater focus on overseas expansion, strategic partnerships and acquisitions.

With more than 15 years of experience working within the health and care sector, five of which were spent at Person Centred Software as the Head of Global Product, Andrew was the standout candidate to oversee the strategy across the business and day-to-day operation.

Andrew had overseen some impressive landmarks since joining the company, having joined when Person Centred Software was achieving one million care records daily. Since then, the company, which also operates in Ireland, Australia and the Netherlands, has amassed more than five million care records daily – a 500 per cent increase.

On top of this, Andrew played a pivotal role in implementing GP Connect. This service allows authorised clinical staff to view and share the clinical information and data from GP practices between IT systems quickly and efficiently. Within 12 months after going live, Person Centred Software had connected over 16,000 people and more than 360 care homes to their GP records.

Jonathan said of the announcement: “Andrew is the perfect leader to take the company forward. I believe his extensive knowledge of the sector and business development skills will strengthen and develop Person Centred Software’s presence. We’re confident Andrew’s commitment to social care and ambition will continue pushing the boundaries even further and fulfil the company’s potential.”

Andrew commented on his new role: “I’m very excited to become CEO. I think the decision to move forward in my career stems from the trust I’ve built with Jonathan over the years. Even before I joined Person Centred Software five years ago, I knew the plan was to one day continue the mission that Jonathan started. Jonathan remains fully on board and is thoroughly invested in enabling me to take the business to the next level. I know I will be able to seek his advice and guidance at any time, and he is fully committed to providing any support I feel I need.”

Andrew’s promotion comes at a pivotal moment for the company, having recently acquired the market leader in electronic medication management,Atlas eMAR – a medication management system that digitally links care homes to GP prescribing systems and the supplying pharmacy. The move brought two ‘best-of-breed’ technologies under the same umbrella to improve the quality of life for people in social care.
