Signature Senior Lifestyle, an award-winning provider of luxurious residential, nursing, respite and dementia care for older people, has marked the official opening of Signature at Highgate, a flagship £50m care home in Highgate, North London.
Cutting the ribbon to North London’s newest care home was Mary Sumeray, Signature at Highgate’s ‘Founding Resident’. Mary has lived in the Highgate area for 50 years and remarked on how smiley and attentive the staff team are and that nothing was too much trouble for them.
The grand opening was also attended by distinguished guests, including Professor Martin Green, Chief Executive of Care England, Jayne Connery, Founder, Care Campaign For The Vulnerable, and Care Workers’ Charity representatives.
Signature at Highgate is believed to be the most expensive care home ever built in the UK. Representing a £50 million investment in construction and interior design, Signature at Highgate sets a new standard in older people’s lifestyle living and care, offering unparalleled service and comfort.
Built using state-of-the-art materials, sustainable technology and smart building systems, the home has been designed to the impeccable standards of the world’s best hotels, ensuring even the most discerning resident can enjoy a life well lived. The Dementia Community has also been equipped with independently reviewed Safety Monitoring technology, as part of Signature’s commitment to roll out the technology to all homes following a successful pilot earlier in the year.
The care home features 96 well-appointed apartments, including a mix of studios, one bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, offering optimal privacy and independence. In home facilities include a café, dedicated activity space, cocktail bar, private dining rooms, art-deco cinema, and professional-standard hair salon. It will also offer an exceptional dining experience curated by MasterChef Winner Jane Devonshire, in both full-service restaurant and bistro settings. Outdoor spaces include a secluded garden for residents with dementia, communal terraces, water features, and circular walking paths.
The opening of Signature at Highgate also created 50 new jobs in the local community, spanning care, nursing, hospitality, and administration – as well as a dedicated mixologist and chauffeur.
