Exemplar Health Care, one of the country’s leading nursing care providers for adults living with complex care needs, has marked the official opening of Fernwood care home, located on Knowsley Lane.
Cutting the ribbon was The Worshipful the Mayor of Knowsley, Councillor Eddie Connor who expressed his gratitude to the home’s care team for their dedication to residents. In addition, he noted Exemplar Health Care’s commitment to the community, highlighting the need for care services in the area for people with complex needs.
The new home is the result of an extensive refurbishment and extension of the former building, Knowsley Manor, which started in March 2023.
Fernwood care home is Exemplar Health Care’s first home in Knowsley and focuses on supporting adults living with acquired brain injuries, complex mental health needs, dementia and physical disabilities. The opening of the new home has created 80 new healthcare jobs in the local area.
The home has 28 large bedrooms, each with an ensuite wet room, split across two, 14-bed communities. With this small group living model, Exemplar Health Care has found it can provide a homely and supportive environment that is fully responsive to people’s needs. The home also features communal dining and living spaces, an activities hub, therapy room, consultation room, visitors’ suite and an accessible garden.
For those looking to advance their careers or take up a new challenge, several roles are still being recruited, including a Health Care Assistant and a Nurse Unit Manager. Full details can be found on the Exemplar Health Care careers website: https://www.exemplarhc.com/careers.
