We Care Group has named Blueleaf Care as its sole product and services partner as it embarks on a new Transformation Programme to deliver enhanced quality and sustainability.

Blueleaf Care will support the We Care Group in achieving its sustainability targets and use proprietary Business Intelligence and insight to recommend how it can reduce its CO2 emissions and drive greater efficiencies across its 31 care homes located in the North of England.

We Care Group is one of the first groups to transition to n-kind Blueleaf Care’s range of 100% biodegradable and plant-based cleaning solutions. Developed in-house by its own technicians, n-kind is helping We Care Group to move away from conventional chemical cleaning products and toward products with less negative environmental impact. n-kind also provides a deeper, longer lasting and more natural clean that is non-hazardous for people and animals.

Bernie Suresparan, Chief Executive Officer of We Care Group says that partnerships will be key to delivering sustainable change in its operations: “Our Transformation Programme is underpinned by significant investment which reflects our unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of our residents, their families, our staff colleagues and the broader community,” he explains. “Part of this is taking a proactive approach towards ESG principles and will involve positive changes to reduce the carbon footprint of our homes, reduce waste and implement practices that reduce our environmental impact.

“We are pleased to be working with partners like Blueleaf Care to support us on this journey. They share the same commitment to sustainability and can help us with the right business insights and products for us to make the necessary improvements,” says Bernie. “We are delighted to have rolled out n-kind to our homes, and with the positive response we are receiving from the teams. n-kind removes the need to buy a stock of ‘single-application’ cleaning products and it gives greater peace of mind to those in our homes who now have access to a new type of cleaner solution that is kinder to people and the environment. n-kind means we are reducing the amount of chemicals and plastics used in each home, reducing waste from packaging, and reducing emissions from transport, which all contribute to improvements in our carbon footprint.”

Blueleaf Care’s n-kind range is based on two single products for multiple uses across the entire care home to clean, deodorise and disinfect. elimin8 is an eight-in-one anti-viral, anti-bacterial disinfectant that is completely natural and non-hazardous and has been extensively tested to ensure suitability for use in a care setting. It conforms to BS EN 14476 and BS EN 1276 and has an industry leading 30-second contact time for excellent infection control and cleaning performance for any hard surface. clean15 is a 15-in-1 cleaner and deodoriser that can be used on anything from bathrooms to upholstery, helping to reduce the number of products used in a care setting.

Shirley Friday, Domestic Assistant at Courtfield Lodge Care Home, which is owned and operated by We Care Group, says n-kind is maximising cleaning effectiveness and minimising waste: “Not only is n-kind effective in keeping our home environment spotless, but it’s also a game-changer in terms of its environmental impact. Knowing that this plant-based product is kinder to the planet and can be used across the wide range of applications needed within a care home gives me great satisfaction, as we all play a part in combating climate change.”

Nick Frogbrook, CEO of Blueleaf Care, says both companies have aligned ambitions: “Care home groups are always looking at their supply chains and the products they use but the focus is increasingly shifting to include sustainability considerations. This is going to become even more important as providers look to reduce their overall carbon footprint in order to comply with the CQC’s new Quality Statement for environmental sustainability. We know that we can play a crucial role in providing the important insights that allow them to make better choices which deliver better outcomes within their homes and within their businesses,” he says.

“We’re delighted to join forces with the We Care Group, a company with a shared motive to make best practice care more sustainable, without compromising on quality.”

As well as its n-kind cleaning products, Blueleaf Care will also be supplying medical equipment, nursing consumables and furniture, to support over 1,400 residents and 1,500 staff.
