carehome.co.uk and homecare.co.uk, the UK’s leading websites for finding and choosing care homes and home care services, have announced a new partnership with Carents, the UK’s national organisation supporting adult children who care for their parents and ageing relatives. The collaboration aims to improve access to trusted information and support for families navigating later-life care.

Across the UK, more than 4 million people are ‘carents’ – adult children caring for one or both ageing parents, in-laws or elderly relatives. Together, they provide an estimated £100 billion of unpaid care each year, equivalent to around £25,000 per household. Despite the scale and value of their contribution, many carents do not identify as carers and often fall outside existing support systems, leaving them to navigate complex health and council services alone.

carehome.co.uk helps families understand their care home options, explore what is available locally, build a shortlist and arrange viewings with homes that best match their individual needs. The platform lists all registered care homes in the UK and provides verified reviews, inspection ratings and transparent fee information. It also operates a free expert care helpline to support people searching for care.

homecare.co.uk is the UK’s leading website for finding and choosing home care services. It lists all registered home care agencies in the UK and provides verified reviews and inspection ratings to help families make informed care decisions.

Carents supports this often unrecognised group through its free online platform, TheCarents Room, which offers guidance, peer support and practical tools to help adult children balance careers, family life and the growing responsibilities of caring for older loved ones. These carents form a hidden army across the UK, quietly managing complex care needs while facing significant personal, financial and emotional pressures.

Through this partnership, carehome.co.uk and Carents will work together to better support families involved in caring roles by sharing practical resources, improving awareness of care options, and amplifying the voices of adult children who play a critical role in supporting older relatives. The collaboration will also help care providers better understand the experiences and needs of families involved in care decision-making.

Will Blackwell, CEO of carehome.co.uk and homecare.co.uk, said:

“We’re pleased to partner with Carents, an organisation providing vital support to adult children caring for ageing parents. This partnership aligns with our mission to help care seekers and their families find the right care solutions, while supporting care homes in engaging more effectively with families who are often deeply involved in care decisions.”

Dr Jackie Gray, founder of Carents and a retired NHS GP, said:

“Carents exist to champion adult children who care for their parents – a group that is growing rapidly but remains largely unrecognised. By working with carehome.co.uk, we can reach families earlier with our trusted information and support, helping them navigate care with greater confidence and clarity.”
