Nourish Care appoints new Director of Data and AI

by Kirsty Kirsty

Nourish Care, the leading provider of digital care management software in the UK has appointed Sudha Regmi as Director of Data & AI in a move that underscores the organisation’s commitment to using cutting-edge technologies to revolutionise adult social care in the UK.

Having spent 15 years working in data science, artificial intelligence, and healthcare technology, Sudha brings a wealth of experience to the role. She will lead Nourish’s strategy for incorporating advanced AI capabilities into its platform so caregivers can benefit from data-driven, evidence-based suggestions to improve outcomes for those receiving care.

“I’m excited to join a company like Nourish that’s leading the innovation in this sector. The organisation has so much rich data which can produce powerful, actionable insights,” she says.

Sudha has an undergraduate degree in Economics & Mathematics and a Master’s in Data Science. Before joining Nourish Care, she was Director of Data, AI and Advanced Analytics for Cervello consulting. She has also worked as an Associate Director in Data Science at Evolent Health, a US healthcare company.

“My role is to identify opportunities where we can use the vast amount of data that Nourish Care has, from our clients, external sources and our understandings and use it for insights into how caregivers can better support those receiving care. I will be mining the data, looking for patterns and cutting through the noise so we can tell people what’s important and what they need to focus on.”

She gives the example of wound management and explains that AI is already revealing patterns that can improve care.

“We already know that dehydrated people are more susceptible to wounds. Sometimes AI is about confirming a hypothesis like that and other times, it discovers new patterns, for example, we are investigating whether there is a significant difference in recovery for certain types of wounds within a specific group, and if so, what they are doing differently to achieve this.”

One of the advantages of the new generation of AI utilised by Nourish is the ability to analyse unstructured data.

“The new generation of AI can analyse the notes that caregivers input into the Nourish app. The same goes for photographs, for example, caregivers take pictures of wounds to illustrate the healing process.”

Sudha stresses that Nourish is developing its AI capabilities with robust governance.” Safety and privacy are a priority,” she says. “From day one, we are designing our AI tools to follow the highest data and information security standards. We are custodians of sensitive information and are committed to protecting the individuals we support.”

Finally, Sudha explains that Nourish Care’s AI strategy will have a far-reaching impact on the UK’s healthcare system. “We are uniquely positioned to unlock insights that could help drive change across the healthcare system.”
