Charity grows to 24 homes and 426 staff, supporting more individuals with complex care needs

Leading social care charity We Change Lives (WCL) has acquired East Midlands residential care business PSA Care Services Limited and its subsidiaries for an undisclosed sum.

The acquired business traded as Creative Care with six supported living homes with 21 residents in the Leicester area, all currently rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.

The acquisition brings the number of WCL residential properties to 24, caring for a total of supported individuals to 126. The number of staff in the WCL group rises to 426.

WCL is dedicated to supporting people to live their best lives, with a focus on supporting individuals with complex care needs.

Originally founded in Warrington, WCL’s services are commissioned by local authorities, NHS integrated care partnerships and private clients across the North West and now into the Midlands.

It has grown across the North West and the acquisition marks a significant milestone in its mission to offer life-changing, person-centred care to even more people across the UK.

WCL reported an income of over £9.5m in its 2024 year-end financial results.

The group specialises in Complex Behaviour Supported Living, offering highly personalised care for individuals with significant needs with tailored support plans, positive behaviour management strategies, and specially trained staff. The focus is to empower people to live independently, manage risks, and actively participate in their communities.

This addition strengthens WCL’s ability to provide specialist support for people with complex needs, further expanding on the work the charity already delivers.

Complex care involves managing and supporting individuals with significant, chronic, or acute health conditions that require comprehensive and coordinated care. As demand for these services continues to rise, WCL’s expansion helps to bridge a widening gap in care provision, ensuring more people can access the exceptional, personalised complex health support they need.

Phil Sermon, Chief Executive Officer of We Change Lives, says:

“This is an exciting milestone in our five-year growth strategy and follows on from our acquisition of 3L Care in September 2023.

“By expanding into new areas, we’re ensuring people can access the high-quality, people-centred care they deserve. Our focus remains on developing specialist complex care and supported living services that truly make a difference in people’s lives.”

Funding for the acquisition was provided by Barclays Bank, legal advice was provided by Bevan Brittan and financial advice by Kent Finance .
