Craigielea Care Home in Gateshead has promoted two longstanding staff members to leadership positions, reflecting its dedication to recognising and nurturing internal talent.
Sarah Johnson, a member of the Craigielea team since January 2019, has been appointed as the new care home manager. A qualified mental health nurse since 2015, Sarah’s experience spans various healthcare settings, including the NHS. She joined Craigielea as a nurse, demonstrating exceptional care and leadership qualities.
Her leadership skills were recognised very quickly, and she was placed on the Company’s Leadership Development Programme and promoted to Deputy Manager at Craigielea in May 2020. Maintaining her success in the home it was a logical step up for Sarah to move into the Managers role.
Sarah Johnson shared her enthusiasm about her new role, stating: “I feel incredibly excited about this opportunity. I am looking forward to developing within the role and it’s fantastic to have another internal promotion, in the form of new deputy manager Sarah Hoey, working alongside me.”
Sarah Hoey, who began her journey at Craigielea in 2003 as a care assistant, has been appointed Deputy Manager. Her progressive journey through various roles, including senior care assistant and nurse assistant, culminates in this well-deserved promotion. Sarah’s commitment to professional development is evident in her completion of the Social Care Associate Practitioner (SCAPs) programme and her ongoing enrolment in the Level 5 leadership and management course.
Sarah Hoey said: “I feel excited about this new chapter. Having been part of the home for a very long time, I am eager to learn and embrace the responsibilities of being the deputy manager.”
Operations Manager, Steve Massey, also expressed his support for these appointments: “The promotion of Sarah Johnson and Sarah Hoey to these key leadership roles is a clear reflection of our commitment to internal talent development. Their dedication and skills have been invaluable to Craigielea, and I am confident that under their leadership, our care home will continue to excel in providing outstanding care to our residents.” Craigielea Care Home has been specially created to deliver first class residential, nursing, and specialised dementia care.
