As part of Global Intergenerational Week, the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and the University of Chichester, is pleased to announce that a new National Survey on Intergenerational Activities in Care Homes will be launching soon.
The survey seeks to gather insight from care home staff and activity providers across England about the realities of delivering intergenerational (IG) activities, the benefits, the barriers and what’s needed for lasting success.
This survey will explore:
- Participant roles and care home demographics
- Frequency and types of intergenerational engagement
- Internal and external partnerships
- Staff training
- Benefits and challenges of IG work
- Sustainability and long-term planning
Hilary Woodhead, CEO, NAPA
“Activity providers and care workers are the driving force behind some of the most meaningful moments in care settings. This survey is about recognising their creativity, capturing their challenges, and ensuring they’re equipped to deliver intergenerational activities that inspire real social change.”
Dr. Denise Turner, University of Hertfordshire
“There is growing recognition of the value of intergenerational relationships, but we need real data from those delivering care to understand what support is truly needed.”
Dr. Sandra Lyndon, University of Chichester
“We want to know what’s working, what’s not, and how we can help care settings embed meaningful intergenerational activities into everyday life.”
From early years visits to intergenerational gardening and digital activities, this research will shine a light on what’s
happening across care homes and how we can celebrate and share good practice and support innovation.
The survey will be launching soon, keep an eye on NAPA’s channels and help us shape the future of age-inclusive,
connected communities.
