Gaj Muraliidaran and his mother Usha Ramuppillai are the directors of SureCare East Surrey and Sevenoaks which is based in Riverhead.

A son and his mother are rolling out a full range of home care services to people living in Sevenoaks.

The pair, along with registered manager Tracy Dankert, who has over 20 years’ experience working in the care sector, have just received their Care Quality Commission registration which allows them to offer both regulated and non-regulated care services.

The CQC registration means they can now provide personal care services to people living in the comfort of their own home. Regulated services include, bathing and showering, nutrition and hydration, medication administration, companionship, transport, live-in-care and much more.

Non-regulated services include cleaning, dog walking and pet sitting.

The business is initially focussing on offering its services to people living in and around Sevenoaks, expanding into East Surrey over the coming months.

They are currently looking to recruit care workers to provide regulated care and additional staff to cover the increasing number of enquiries for non-regulated services such as dog-sitting while people are away on holiday.

Gaj and Usha were motivated to open a home care business after struggling to find quality care workers when Gaj’s father fell terminally ill and his grandmother prior to that.

Gaj said: “My mum was finding it hard because she was holding down a full-time job while also caring for my dad. She couldn’t find anyone that she trusted to care for dad when she wasn’t there.

“It was this experience that motivated my mum and instilled the desire of opening our own home care business with the goal of providing quality, person-centred care, empowering individuals and aiding families. We want to empower our clients and support the families of our clients.

“We looked at different franchises and SureCare stood out because they are a family-run company like us whose values were a good fit with our own ethos of how to run a business.”

Gaj has been busy networking in the local community including joining, the business networking international, BNI Sevenoaks. He is also actively looking to build connections with local charities in the area.

Gaj is responsible for the day to day running of the business, supported by Tracy, who has worked in the care sector for over 20 years. Usha, who has worked in business and a civil servant all her career, is responsible for finances.

Gaj added: “Our aim is to be known as the best provider of person-centred home care services in East Surrey and Sevenoaks.

“We’re looking for more like-minded, empathic individuals to join our family and help us make a positive difference in the lives of families and individuals in need.”

Gary Farrer, Managing Director of SureCare, said: ““I’m delighted that Gaj and Usha have secured their CQC registration for SureCare East Surrey and Sevenoaks. They are passionate about providing a great service in their area.”
